# Pomeroy > Pomeroy is a $19 macOS menu-bar app that connects your AI assistant to Mail, Calendar, Reminders, Notes, Contacts, Messages, Maps, Shortcuts and Weather over MCP, with a test-enforced privacy pledge. Pomeroy is made by Joe Saunderson. It is not made by Anthropic. It is free for 50 actions a week, with no account and no card. $19 once removes the weekly limit; there is no subscription, and there is a 14-day refund period. It needs macOS 15 or later. Pomeroy works with the AI assistants on your Mac that speak MCP: Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Codex, LM Studio, Kiro, Cherry Studio, Cline, AnythingLLM, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot CLI and OpenCode with one click, and Raycast, ChatWise, goose, Windsurf, Warp, Zed, Perplexity, JetBrains AI Assistant, BoltAI and Msty Studio by pasting a configuration it writes for you. It does not work from claude.ai, ChatGPT or Grok on the web: they cannot reach a program on your Mac, and Pomeroy runs no relay, by design. What Pomeroy can do in each app, and what it refuses to do: - Mail: Search your inbox and attachments. Pomeroy cannot send mail. - Calendar: See your schedule or add an event when you ask. - Reminders: Create reminders, find lists, and mark items complete. - Notes: Find a note or start a new one without leaving your AI assistant. - Contacts: Look up a phone number or address. Pomeroy never edits a contact. - Messages: Search and read your messages. Pomeroy cannot send replies. - Maps: Get drive times, routes, and nearby places using Apple Maps. - Shortcuts: Run any Shortcut you have already made by asking for it by name. - Weather: Current conditions and the days ahead, from the same source as the Weather app. ## Pages - [Home](https://pomeroy.app): What Pomeroy does, which apps it connects, and what it refuses to do. - [Download](https://pomeroy.app/download): Get the app and set it up in five steps. - [Pricing](https://pomeroy.app/pricing): Free for 50 actions a week; $19 once removes the weekly limit, with no subscription and a 14-day refund period. - [Connect your AI assistant to Apple Mail](https://pomeroy.app/apps/mail): Search your inbox and attachments. Competitor facts checked 3 September 2026. - [Pomeroy vs iMCP](https://pomeroy.app/compare/imcp): iMCP is a free, open-source Mac app that gives your assistant your Calendar, Contacts, Location, Maps, Messages, Reminders, Shortcuts and Weather; it has no Mail or Notes and no automatic updates. Pomeroy is $19 once, covers 9 apps including Mail and Notes, updates itself, and cannot send anything. Pick iMCP if you like open source and the terminal; pick Pomeroy if you want Mail and Notes from something that looks after itself. - [Pomeroy vs Macuse](https://pomeroy.app/compare/macuse): Macuse is the more powerful tool: it reads and writes nine Apple apps, sends mail and messages, reaches ChatGPT on the web through your own tailnet, and can drive any Mac app through Computer Use, for $49 once with a free tier of 100 calls a day on macOS 13 or later. Pomeroy is narrower on purpose: 9 apps, read-mostly, $19 once, with a privacy pledge held by tests rather than asserted. Pick Macuse if you want your assistant to act on your Mac; pick Pomeroy if you want your assistant to read it and never send. - [Pomeroy vs LMCP](https://pomeroy.app/compare/lmcp): LMCP is free and broad: 188+ tools across Mail, Calendar, Messages, Teams, Slack, WhatsApp, Microsoft 365 and cloud drives, for any MCP client on macOS 13 or later. Pomeroy is small on purpose: 9 Apple apps, read-mostly, $19 once, with every network request listed on one page and held there by a test. Pick LMCP for breadth and work apps; pick Pomeroy for a focused, safe connection to the Apple apps on your Mac. - [apple-mcp is archived. What should you use instead?](https://pomeroy.app/compare/apple-mcp): apple-mcp, the open-source server that first gave your assistant your Mail, Notes, Messages, Contacts, Calendar and Reminders, was archived on 1 January 2026 and no longer receives fixes. The maintained replacements are iMCP (free, open source, no Mail or Notes), Macuse ($49, read-and-write with Computer Use), LMCP (free, 188+ tools) and Pomeroy ($19 once, 9 Apple apps, read-mostly). Which to pick depends on whether you want your assistant to be able to send. - [Blog](https://pomeroy.app/blog): Posts answering the questions people ask before they install anything. - [Terminal AI assistants that read Mail and Calendar](https://pomeroy.app/blog/terminal-ai-assistants-that-read-mail-and-calendar): Pick the terminal agent you already use: all seven here can read Mail and Calendar through Pomeroy. Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, GitHub Copilot CLI and OpenCode set up in one click; goose and Warp take a pasted configuration. - [How do I connect Claude to my Mac apps?](https://pomeroy.app/blog/how-do-i-connect-claude-to-my-mac-apps): It depends on how much of the setup you want to do yourself. Macuse and Pomeroy do it all from the app, iMCP writes the file from a menu, LMCP's main route is a Terminal script, and apple-mcp is archived. - [Can Claude read my Apple Notes?](https://pomeroy.app/blog/can-claude-read-my-apple-notes): Yes, once you switch Notes on in Pomeroy. Claude can list your notes by name, read any one in full, and start a new note, but it never edits, moves, or deletes a note you already have. - [What to check before an AI reads your iMessages](https://pomeroy.app/blog/what-to-check-before-an-ai-reads-your-imessages): Five questions decide it, and the first matters most: can the tool send a message as you? Macuse, LMCP and apple-mcp can; iMCP and Pomeroy only read, and Pomeroy never asks for Full Disk Access. - [What to check before an AI reads your Apple Mail](https://pomeroy.app/blog/what-to-check-before-an-ai-reads-your-apple-mail): Six questions decide it, and the first one settles most of it: can the tool send mail as you? Macuse and LMCP can, Pomeroy cannot, and iMCP has no Mail service at all. - [Connect Claude to Apple Mail and Notes for free](https://pomeroy.app/blog/connect-claude-to-apple-mail-and-notes-for-free): LMCP is free with no limit and covers Mail, Calendar and Notes; iMCP is free and open source but has neither Mail nor Notes. Macuse and Pomeroy have free allowances that run out, and apple-mcp is archived. - [Which Apple apps can Claude connect to on a Mac?](https://pomeroy.app/blog/which-apple-apps-can-claude-connect-to-on-a-mac): Mail, Calendar, Reminders, Notes, Contacts, Messages, Maps, Shortcuts and Weather, each a separate switch that starts off. What Claude can do in each one, and what none of them allow. - [Which AI assistants can read Mail and Calendar?](https://pomeroy.app/blog/which-ai-assistants-can-read-mail-and-calendar): One question decides it: does the assistant run on your Mac, or in someone else's cloud. Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor, Codex and Raycast can; claude.ai and ChatGPT on the web cannot. - [Best MCP server for Apple Notes and Calendar](https://pomeroy.app/blog/best-mcp-server-for-apple-notes-and-calendar): If you need both apps, it is LMCP, Pomeroy or Macuse, in that order by price, depending on whether you want it able to send. iMCP is free but has no Notes service at all. - [Pomeroy 1.0: connect any AI assistant to your Mac](https://pomeroy.app/blog/pomeroy-1-0): Pomeroy 1.0 connects any of 24 AI assistants to Mail, Calendar, Messages and seven more Apple apps. What is new, and what it still deliberately refuses to do. - [Which is the best MCP server for Apple apps?](https://pomeroy.app/blog/best-mcp-server-for-apple-apps): There is no single best one. It comes down to whether you want the assistant able to send as you. An honest map of iMCP, Macuse, LMCP, apple-mcp and Pomeroy. - [Is it safe to let Claude read your iMessages?](https://pomeroy.app/blog/is-it-safe-to-let-claude-read-your-imessages): Yes, once you connect Messages through Pomeroy. Claude can search and read your message history, but cannot send a reply, and never asks for Full Disk Access. - [Can Claude read my Apple Mail?](https://pomeroy.app/blog/can-claude-read-my-apple-mail): Yes, once you connect Mail through Pomeroy. Claude can list your mailboxes and read and search your mail, but cannot send, reply, delete, or move a message. - [Privacy](https://pomeroy.app/privacy): How Pomeroy handles app data, licence information, usage events, and website visits. - [Terms](https://pomeroy.app/terms): Terms for using Pomeroy. $19 once for a personal licence and a 14-day refund period. - [Documentation](https://pomeroy.app/docs): How Pomeroy works, what every tool does, how the endpoint is guarded, the licence, and troubleshooting. - [Installation](https://pomeroy.app/docs/getting-started/installation): Download Pomeroy, switch on your apps, connect an assistant, and get the first answer. - [Assistants](https://pomeroy.app/docs/assistants/overview): A page per assistant: what Set up writes, the configuration in full, how to check it worked, and what to do when yours is not listed. - [How an assistant reaches Pomeroy](https://pomeroy.app/docs/configuration/overview): The extension, the stdio pipe inside the app bundle, and the credentialled HTTP endpoint on loopback, with the three modes that guard it. - [Tool reference](https://pomeroy.app/docs/apps/tool-reference): Every MCP tool Pomeroy serves, which app gates it, and whether it reads or writes. - [What leaves your Mac](https://pomeroy.app/docs/privacy/what-leaves-your-mac): Every request Pomeroy makes, everything that can reach it, and the test that fails if the page and the code disagree. - [What Pomeroy asks macOS for](https://pomeroy.app/docs/privacy/what-pomeroy-asks-macos-for): Every macOS permission it requests, and the two it will never ask for: Accessibility and Screen Recording. - [Troubleshooting](https://pomeroy.app/docs/getting-started/troubleshooting): Every way Pomeroy can appear not to work, and the fix. - [FAQ](https://pomeroy.app/docs/faq): Answered plainly: what your assistant can read, what Pomeroy refuses to do, where your data goes, which assistants work, who makes it, and what it costs. - [Guides](https://pomeroy.app/docs/guides/overview): Task-shaped guides to what you can do once your assistant can see your Mac, with the prompts that answer each one. - [Plan your week with an AI assistant on your Mac](https://pomeroy.app/docs/guides/plan-your-week-on-your-mac): Read your schedule and your lists in one question, then add what the week is missing.
