Can Claude read my Apple Notes?

Yes. Once you switch Apple Notes on in Pomeroy, Claude can list your notes by name, read any one of them in full, and start a new note when you ask. It never edits, moves or deletes a note you already have, so years of notes become something you can ask questions of without any of them changing.

What can Claude do with my Apple Notes?

Claude can list your notes by name and read any one of them in full, as plain text. It can also create a new note, in a folder you name if you like, and that is the only writing it does.

That covers most of what people keep in Notes for. A packing list, a recipe, the boiler settings the engineer told you once, the actions from Monday's meeting: they are all written down somewhere, and the hard part is finding the right note and reading it again. Claude can do that part. You ask in plain words, Claude looks through the names of your notes, opens the ones that look right, and answers from what they say.

Because Claude reads the whole note, it can do more than repeat it back. It can check a list against a plan, pull the actions out of meeting notes, or tell you what is missing. Then, if you want the result kept, it can save it as a new note.

What should I ask Claude about my notes?

Ask for the note you want by what it is about, then say what you want done with it. Claude finds the note, reads it, and answers in the conversation.

Some prompts that work today:

• "Find my note about the boiler pressure."
• "Read me my packing list and tell me what's missing for a week away."
• "What notes do I have about the kitchen?"
• "Read my meeting note from Monday and list the actions."
• "Save this recipe as a note in my Cooking folder."

The last one shows the one kind of change Claude can make. It starts a new note with the words you give it, in the folder you name. Your existing notes are only ever read.

What can't Claude do in Apple Notes?

Claude cannot edit an existing note. It cannot delete a note or a folder, and it cannot move notes between folders.

Pomeroy has no action for any of those, so no prompt, however it is worded, can make one happen. If you ask Claude to tidy a note, it can read the note and write a tidier version as a new note beside it. The original stays exactly as you left it, and you decide whether to delete it yourself in the Notes app.

This is the point, not a gap. Your notes hold years of things you wrote for yourself, and letting Claude read them should never turn into letting it rewrite them. Pomeroy never deletes anything in any app you connect.

Where do my notes go when Claude reads them?

Pomeroy reads your notes on your Mac and sends nothing to Pomeroy itself. There is no Pomeroy account, and nowhere of Pomeroy's for your notes to go.

What Claude reads becomes part of your conversation with Claude, the same as text you paste in yourself. From there, Anthropic handles it under its own privacy policy, which the privacy page links to. So it is worth asking about the notes you would be comfortable pasting in by hand.

Notes starts switched off when you install Pomeroy, and nothing is read until you turn it on. When you do, macOS asks whether Pomeroy may control Notes, and the prompt names Pomeroy. You can switch Notes off again at any time.

How do I connect Claude to Apple Notes?
