Connect Raycast to Apple Shortcuts
Yes, Raycast can run your Apple Shortcuts. Pomeroy connects Raycast to Apple Shortcuts on your Mac, so it can list the shortcuts you have made and run one by name when you ask. Pomeroy only runs shortcuts you already built; it cannot create or change them.

What can you ask Raycast to do in Apple Shortcuts?
- “Run my Wind Down shortcut.”
- “What shortcuts do I have?”
- “Run Morning Summary and read me the result.”
- “Run my Add Expense shortcut with ‘12.40 lunch’.”
- “Run my Daily Journal shortcut with today’s highlights as the input.”
What Raycast can do in Apple Shortcuts
- List your shortcuts by name.
- Run one by its exact name and hand back whatever it produces.
- Pass a line of text into a shortcut as its input.
What Pomeroy will not do in Apple Shortcuts
- Create, edit, or delete a shortcut.
- Run a shortcut you have not already made.
- Leave a shortcut waiting: one that stops to ask for a click is ended after two minutes.
A shortcut you built can do things Pomeroy will not do itself, like sending a message. That power is yours, set up in the Shortcuts app; Pomeroy only starts the shortcut you name. This is also how Pomeroy reaches an app it has no tools for. It never reads your screen and never asks for Accessibility, so an app with no scripting interface is reached by a shortcut you made for it.
How to connect raycast to apple shortcuts
Pomeroy lists the assistants it finds on this Mac, so install Raycast first if it is not there yet.
- 1
Download Pomeroy and switch on Apple Shortcuts.
Open the download, drag Pomeroy into Applications, and open it. Pomeroy opens a setup window listing every app it can connect. Pomeroy runs your shortcuts through the shortcuts command that ships with macOS, and only ever by the exact name you ask for.
- 2
Press Set up beside Raycast.
Raycast has no configuration file Pomeroy can write and no install link Raycast documents, so Pomeroy puts the three values on your clipboard and tells you where they go.
- 3
Paste it into Raycast.
Paste the configuration into Raycast › Install MCP Server. In Raycast, open Install MCP Server, fill in Name, Transport and Command with the copied values, and save. The server then shows in Raycast's MCP server list, and Raycast AI can use its tools.
- 4
Ask Raycast something.
Try “Run my Wind Down shortcut.” and a real answer comes back.
The configuration, in full
Set up writes it for you. The documentation has the exact text, where it goes, and how to check it worked.
Can Raycast run my Apple Shortcuts?
Yes. Once you switch Shortcuts on in Pomeroy, Raycast can list your shortcuts by name, run one, pass text in, and read back whatever the shortcut produces.
Can Raycast create a shortcut?
No. Raycast can only run shortcuts you have already made, by their exact names. A near miss runs nothing and lists the closest candidates instead.
What about an app Pomeroy does not support?
With a shortcut you built for it. Pomeroy never reads your screen and never asks for Accessibility, so it cannot click around an app that offers nothing to automate. What it can do is run a shortcut you made, which is the same reach with you deciding the steps.
What if a shortcut needs me to click something?
It is stopped after two minutes. Pomeroy will not leave a shortcut waiting for a click in the background.
Raycast does not show Pomeroy's tools.
Then press Set up again in Pomeroy, under Settings › Assistants: every way Pomeroy sets an assistant up is safe to run twice. Then check that the app you asked about is switched on in Pomeroy: an app that is off serves no tools. Pomeroy's menu bar shows whether Raycast is connected right now.
