Connect Cherry Studio to Apple Weather
Yes, Cherry Studio can check the weather from your Mac. Pomeroy connects Cherry Studio to Apple's WeatherKit, the same source the Weather app uses, so Cherry Studio can read current conditions and the days ahead for any place you name. The weather actions take place names, never your location.
Free for 50 actions a week. No account, no card. Or get Cherry Studio first.
What can you ask Cherry Studio to do in Apple Weather?
- “What’s the weather in Lisbon this weekend?”
- “Will it rain in Manchester tomorrow?”
- “What’s the temperature in Tokyo right now?”
- “Do I need a coat in Edinburgh this morning?”
- “What does the week ahead look like in Cornwall?”
- “How windy is it in Brighton today?”
What Cherry Studio can do in Apple Weather
- Read current conditions for a named place: temperature, feels-like, humidity, and wind.
- Read a daily forecast for a named place: highs, lows, and the chance of rain.
What Pomeroy will not do in Apple Weather
- Use your location. The weather actions take place names only.
- Call a third-party weather service. Answers come from Apple, or not at all.
How to connect cherry studio to apple weather
Pomeroy lists the assistants it finds on this Mac, so install Cherry Studio first if it is not there yet.
- 1
Download Pomeroy and switch on Apple Weather.
Open the download, drag Pomeroy into Applications, and open it. Pomeroy opens a setup window listing every app it can connect. Weather needs no macOS permission prompt. The weather actions take place names, not your location, so there is nothing for macOS to ask about.
- 2
Press Set up beside Cherry Studio.
Pomeroy opens Cherry Studio's install link and Cherry Studio shows the command it is about to add, with Cancel and Install. Nothing is written until you accept.
- 3
Check Cherry Studio.
In Cherry Studio, Settings › MCP Server lists pomeroy. Switch it on, then ask a new chat what tools it has. You may need to restart Cherry Studio.
- 4
Ask Cherry Studio something.
Try “What’s the weather in Lisbon this weekend?” and a real answer comes back.
The configuration, in full
Set up writes it for you. The documentation has the exact text, where it goes, and how to check it worked.
Can Cherry Studio check the weather?
Yes. Once you switch Weather on in Pomeroy, Cherry Studio can read current conditions and a daily forecast for any place you name, with temperatures in Celsius and the chance of rain per day.
Does this share my location?
No. The weather actions take place names, like Lisbon, never your location. When you ask, one request goes to Apple carrying the coordinates of the place you named — that request is listed on Pomeroy's privacy page, and it is the only thing a weather question sends anywhere.
Where do the weather answers come from?
Apple. Pomeroy uses WeatherKit, the same source as the Weather app on your Mac, and never calls a third-party weather service. Apple says location in a weather request is used only to provide forecasts, is not associated with personally identifying information, and is never shared or sold.
Cherry Studio does not show Pomeroy's tools.
Try restarting Cherry Studio; its documentation does not say whether it reloads on its own. Then press Set up again in Pomeroy, under Settings › Assistants: every way Pomeroy sets an assistant up is safe to run twice. Pomeroy's menu bar shows whether Cherry Studio is connected right now.
