How to connect kiro to apple contacts
Pomeroy lists the assistants it finds on this Mac, so install Kiro first if it is not there yet.
- 1
Download Pomeroy and switch on Apple Contacts.
Open the download, drag Pomeroy into Applications, and open it. Pomeroy opens a setup window listing every app it can connect. macOS asks whether Pomeroy may access your contacts. The prompt names Pomeroy, and nothing is requested until you flip the toggle.
- 2
Press Set up beside Kiro.
Pomeroy opens Kiro's own install link and Kiro asks you to confirm before anything is written. Kiro watches its configuration file, so the server connects as soon as you accept.
- 3
Check Kiro.
In Kiro's MCP panel, pomeroy is listed and shown as connected, with its tools underneath it.
- 4
Ask Kiro something.
Try “What is Priya’s mobile number?” and a real answer comes back.
The configuration, in full
Set up writes it for you. The documentation has the exact text, where it goes, and how to check it worked.
Can Kiro see my Apple Contacts?
Yes. Once you switch Contacts on in Pomeroy, Kiro can search your contacts by name, organisation, email address, or a fragment of a phone number, and read back what it finds.
Can Kiro change my contacts?
No, never. Pomeroy has no action for creating, editing, or deleting a contact, so it cannot happen by accident or on request. Your address book is read, never written.
Is it safe to connect Kiro to Apple Contacts?
Pomeroy looks contacts up on your Mac and sends nothing to a Pomeroy server. What Kiro reads becomes part of your conversation, the same as text you paste in. Contacts starts switched off, and you can switch it off again at any time. Pomeroy is an independent app, not made by Anthropic.
Kiro does not show Pomeroy's tools.
Then press Set up again in Pomeroy, under Settings › Assistants: every way Pomeroy sets an assistant up is safe to run twice. Then check that the app you asked about is switched on in Pomeroy: an app that is off serves no tools. Pomeroy's menu bar shows whether Kiro is connected right now.
