How to connect kiro to apple mail

Pomeroy lists the assistants it finds on this Mac, so install Kiro first if it is not there yet.

    Download Pomeroy and switch on Apple Mail.

    Open the download, drag Pomeroy into Applications, and open it. Pomeroy opens a setup window listing every app it can connect. macOS asks whether Pomeroy may control Mail, which is how one Mac app reads another's mail. The prompt names Pomeroy, and nothing is requested until you flip the toggle.

    Press Set up beside Kiro.

    Pomeroy opens Kiro's own install link and Kiro asks you to confirm before anything is written. Kiro watches its configuration file, so the server connects as soon as you accept.

    Check Kiro.

    In Kiro's MCP panel, pomeroy is listed and shown as connected, with its tools underneath it.

Can Kiro read my Apple Mail?

Yes. Once you switch Mail on in Pomeroy, Kiro can list your mailboxes, read messages, and search your mail. Searches cover subjects and senders, and message bodies through an index built and kept on your Mac.

Can Kiro send email for me?

No. Pomeroy has no way to send, reply, or forward, so Kiro cannot be talked into it. If you want a reply written, Kiro can draft the words and you send them yourself.

Is it safe to connect Kiro to Apple Mail?

Pomeroy reads your mail on your Mac and sends nothing to a Pomeroy server. What Kiro reads becomes part of your conversation, the same as text you paste in. Mail starts switched off, and you can switch it off again at any time. Pomeroy is an independent app, not made by Anthropic.

Then press Set up again in Pomeroy, under Settings › Assistants: every way Pomeroy sets an assistant up is safe to run twice. Then check that the app you asked about is switched on in Pomeroy: an app that is off serves no tools. Pomeroy's menu bar shows whether Kiro is connected right now.
