How to connect claude to apple maps

Pomeroy lists the assistants it finds on this Mac, so install Claude Desktop first if it is not there yet.

    Download Pomeroy and switch on Apple Maps.

    Open the download, drag Pomeroy into Applications, and open it. Pomeroy opens a setup window listing every app it can connect. Maps needs no macOS permission prompt. The maps actions take place names, not your location, so there is nothing for macOS to ask about.

    Press Set up beside Claude Desktop.

    Pomeroy opens the Claude extension it ships with, and Claude Desktop shows its own install prompt. Approve it. Nothing is written to Claude's configuration file.

    Check Claude Desktop.

    In Claude Desktop, open Settings › Extensions and Pomeroy is listed. In a new chat, the tools menu under the message box shows Pomeroy's tools, one set for each app you switched on. Quit Claude Desktop and open it again.

    Ask Claude Desktop something.

    Try “How long will it take to drive to Bristol?” and a real answer comes back.

Can Claude use Apple Maps?

Yes. Once you switch Maps on in Pomeroy, Claude can search for places near a named place and route between two named places, driving or walking, with the distance and the expected time.

Does this share my location?

No. The maps actions take place names, like Borough Market, never coordinates. Pomeroy has a separate Location toggle for the one action that reads where your Mac is, and it stays off unless you switch it on.

Can Claude plan a train journey?

No. Apple does not route public transport on a Mac, so Pomeroy offers driving and walking only. For a train journey, Claude can still tell you the walking route to the station.

Claude Desktop does not show Pomeroy's tools.

Quit Claude Desktop completely and open it again; it reads its configuration when it starts. Then press Set up again in Pomeroy, under Settings › Assistants: every way Pomeroy sets an assistant up is safe to run twice. Pomeroy's menu bar shows whether Claude Desktop is connected right now.
