How to connect Pomeroy to Claude Desktop

Pomeroy lists the assistants it finds on this Mac, so install Claude Desktop first if it is not there yet. Coming back to Pomeroy’s window re-checks.

Download Pomeroy and switch on your apps.
Open the download, drag Pomeroy into Applications, and open it. Pomeroy opens a setup window listing every app it can connect. Switch on the ones you want, and macOS asks you to approve each.

Press Set up beside Claude Desktop.
Pomeroy opens the Claude extension it ships with, and Claude Desktop shows its own install prompt. Approve it. Nothing is written to Claude's configuration file.

Check Claude Desktop.
In Claude Desktop, open Settings › Extensions and Pomeroy is listed. In a new chat, the tools menu under the message box shows Pomeroy's tools, one set for each app you switched on. Quit Claude Desktop and open it again.

Ask Claude Desktop something.
Try “What’s on my calendar today?” and a real answer comes back.

The configuration, in full

Set up opens the Claude extension Pomeroy ships with, and Claude Desktop shows its own install prompt. There is no configuration file to edit. If Claude Desktop ever loses the extension, download it and open it: Claude Desktop shows the same prompt.

What Claude can do with each app

Claude Desktop does not show Pomeroy's tools.

Quit Claude Desktop completely and open it again; it reads its configuration when it starts. Then press Set up again in Pomeroy, under Settings › Assistants: every way Pomeroy sets an assistant up is safe to run twice. Pomeroy's menu bar shows whether Claude Desktop is connected right now.

Pomeroy did not list Claude Desktop.

Pomeroy looks for Claude Desktop the way macOS does: by its app, by its command in the usual install locations, and by the folder it keeps its settings in. If Claude Desktop is installed somewhere unusual, open the extension by hand; the connection works whether or not Pomeroy found Claude Desktop first.

Nothing comes back when I ask.

Check that the app you asked about is switched on in Pomeroy, and that the week's 50 free actions are not used up. Pomeroy says so in the answer if they are, and the count refills a week after it started.
