Connect Msty Studio to Apple Maps
Yes, Msty Studio can use Apple Maps. Pomeroy connects Msty Studio to Apple Maps on your Mac, so it can find places, get driving or walking directions, and tell you how long a journey should take. The maps actions take place names, never your location.

- Use your location. The maps actions take place names only.
- Book or buy anything.
How to connect msty studio to apple maps
Pomeroy lists the assistants it finds on this Mac, so install Msty Studio first if it is not there yet.
- 1
Download Pomeroy and switch on Apple Maps.
Open the download, drag Pomeroy into Applications, and open it. Pomeroy opens a setup window listing every app it can connect. Maps needs no macOS permission prompt. The maps actions take place names, not your location, so there is nothing for macOS to ask about.
- 2
Press Set up beside Msty Studio.
Pomeroy copies the two values. In Msty Studio, open Toolbox, press Add New Tool, choose STDIO / JSON, and fill them in.
- 3
Paste it into Msty Studio.
Paste the configuration into Msty Studio › Toolbox › Add New Tool › STDIO / JSON. In Msty Studio, open Toolbox › Tools and pomeroy is listed. Ask a new conversation what tools it has. You may need to restart Msty Studio.
- 4
Ask Msty Studio something.
Try “How long will it take to drive to Bristol?” and a real answer comes back.
The configuration, in full
Set up writes it for you. The documentation has the exact text, where it goes, and how to check it worked.
Can Msty Studio use Apple Maps?
Yes. Once you switch Maps on in Pomeroy, Msty Studio can search for places near a named place and route between two named places, driving or walking, with the distance and the expected time.
Does this share my location?
No. The maps actions take place names, like Borough Market, never coordinates. Pomeroy has a separate Location toggle for the one action that reads where your Mac is, and it stays off unless you switch it on.
Can Msty Studio plan a train journey?
No. Apple does not route public transport on a Mac, so Pomeroy offers driving and walking only. For a train journey, Msty Studio can still tell you the walking route to the station.
Msty Studio does not show Pomeroy's tools.
Try restarting Msty Studio; its documentation does not say whether it reloads on its own. Then press Set up again in Pomeroy, under Settings › Assistants: every way Pomeroy sets an assistant up is safe to run twice. Pomeroy's menu bar shows whether Msty Studio is connected right now.
