Connect Pomeroy to VS Code Insiders
Yes, VS Code Insiders works with Pomeroy. Pomeroy sets itself up in VS Code Insiders with one click. Then VS Code Insiders can reach Mail, Calendar, Reminders, Notes, Contacts, Messages, Maps, Shortcuts and Weather on your Mac, each app behind its own switch in Pomeroy, and nothing leaves your Mac except what you ask for.
Free for 50 actions a week. No account, no card. Or get VS Code Insiders first.
How to connect Pomeroy to VS Code Insiders
Pomeroy lists the assistants it finds on this Mac, so install VS Code Insiders first if it is not there yet. Coming back to Pomeroy’s window re-checks.
- 1
Download Pomeroy and switch on your apps.
Open the download, drag Pomeroy into Applications, and open it. Pomeroy opens a setup window listing every app it can connect. Switch on the ones you want, and macOS asks you to approve each.
- 2
Press Set up beside VS Code Insiders.
Pomeroy opens the Insiders install link. VS Code Insiders adds pomeroy to your user MCP configuration and asks you to trust it before starting it the first time.
- 3
Check VS Code Insiders.
In VS Code Insiders, run MCP: List Servers from the Command Palette and pomeroy is listed as running. In Copilot chat, agent mode shows Pomeroy's tools.
- 4
Ask VS Code Insiders something.
Try “What’s on my calendar today?” and a real answer comes back.
The configuration, in full
You do not need it — Set up writes it for you. The documentation has the exact text, where it goes, how to check it worked, and how to use the local HTTP endpoint.

Then press Set up again in Pomeroy, under Settings › Assistants: every way Pomeroy sets an assistant up is safe to run twice. Then check that the app you asked about is switched on in Pomeroy: an app that is off serves no tools. Pomeroy's menu bar shows whether VS Code Insiders is connected right now.
Pomeroy did not list VS Code Insiders.
Pomeroy looks for VS Code Insiders the way macOS does: by its app, by its command in the usual install locations, and by the folder it keeps its settings in. If VS Code Insiders is installed somewhere unusual, paste the configuration above by hand; the connection works whether or not Pomeroy found VS Code Insiders first.
Nothing comes back when I ask.
Check that the app you asked about is switched on in Pomeroy, and that the week's 50 free actions are not used up. Pomeroy says so in the answer if they are, and the count refills a week after it started.
