Connect Pomeroy to Zed

Yes, Zed works with Pomeroy. Pomeroy writes the configuration for Zed and you paste it in. How to connect Pomeroy to Zed

Pomeroy lists the assistants it finds on this Mac, so install Zed first if it is not there yet. Coming back to Pomeroy’s window re-checks.

Download Pomeroy and switch on your apps.
Open the download, drag Pomeroy into Applications, and open it. Pomeroy opens a setup window listing every app it can connect. Switch on the ones you want, and macOS asks you to approve each.

Press Set up beside Zed.
Zed's settings file allows comments, and Pomeroy will not rewrite a file it cannot leave byte for byte as you wrote it, so it puts the block on your clipboard for you to paste.

Paste it into Zed.
Paste the configuration into ~/.config/zed/settings.json. In Zed, open the agent panel's settings and Pomeroy is listed under context servers, with its tools. You may need to restart Zed.

Ask Zed something.
Try “What’s on my calendar today?” and a real answer comes back.

What Zed can do with each app

Zed does not show Pomeroy's tools.

Try restarting Zed; its documentation does not say whether it reloads on its own. Then press Set up again in Pomeroy, under Settings › Assistants: every way Pomeroy sets an assistant up is safe to run twice. Pomeroy's menu bar shows whether Zed is connected right now.

Pomeroy did not list Zed.

Pomeroy looks for Zed the way macOS does: by its app, by its command in the usual install locations, and by the folder it keeps its settings in. If Zed is installed somewhere unusual, paste the configuration above by hand; the connection works whether or not Pomeroy found Zed first.

Nothing comes back when I ask.

Check that the app you asked about is switched on in Pomeroy, and that the week's 50 free actions are not used up. Pomeroy says so in the answer if they are, and the count refills a week after it started.
